The London No. 1

United Kingdom

Description

Numbers in gin names seems to be more and more popular: Monkey 47, Beefeter 24, Hayman’s 1820 Gin, No 209… and now there is London no. 1. This gin is actually produced in London, England, but is owned by the Spanish company Gonzalez Byass, probably best known for its world known Tio Pepe sherry but also for the MOM gin.

London No. 1’s blue color is of particular note. This is not a blue bottle like Bombay Sapphire - this gin is actually slightly blue gin. The color comes from some of the botanicals used, namely the iris flowers used here as an add-on to the more standard botanicals such as juniper, coriander, angelica, lemon and orange peel, cassia and cinnamon. Also in the blend are liquorice, almond, savory, and not least bergamot that gives delightful notes of earl grey tea. The result is a mild but very aromatic with quality balsamic notes
